ABOUT ME

Hi and welcome to my blog! It's Bufi, the creator of this (organized, hopefully) mess. One day, I stumbled upon an anime blog, and thought, huh, this seems fun, doesn't it? So here we are, with my own one!



WHAT IS THIS IS ABOUT 
   

Well, that's a hard one, ey? Mostly, I'll rate the shows I'm watching, with proper reviews. Oh, and manga as well. If I start reading webtoons, or manhua/manhwa — you name it, then all the same; I'll do it for any medium, as long as I think it deserves the time.

However, I also have some other ideas and plans; here are a few:
  • recommendation lists based on specific themes/elements
  • character design & costume design, which kinda goes into fashion in anime
  • comparisons between manga series and their adaptations, or between similar anime/manga 
  • articles on different topics such as over-used tropes and characters, quality, plot vs enjoyment and others
  • ridiculous "how-to guides" in anime, and maybe "a day in the life of" certain characters as well; summed up, parody.

Well, you'll probably also just find rants at some point. And just whatever interests me at the time, really.




GENRES; WHAT TO EXPECT IN  GENERAL     


One of my favourite "genres" when it comes to anime and manga is the "dark" one, which usually involves one or a mix of the following genres and elements: psychological, horror, gore/violence, drama, suspense. Of course, the most important element is, always, the edginess. This is the type of works that usually end up in my "favourites" list, and that I like to talk about the most; however! it's by no means the only one, make no mistake.


As such, here is a list of the predominant genres and themes in what I watch and read (as found on MyAnimeList):
  • comedy → anime & manga
  • fantasy*, which includes (but is obviously not limited to):
               ⤇ isekai (a.k.a reincarnation), which goes hand in hand with parody → anime & manga
               ⤇ villainess (subtheme to isekai) → mostly manga
         *usually paired with action, romance or comedy

  • psychological, which can include: 
          ⤇ gore → anime & manga
              ⤇ horror → mostly anime
              ⤇ mystery → anime & manga
              ⤇ suspense → anime & manga
              ⤇ survival → mostly anime
              ⤇ high skates games → mostly anime

  • romance → anime & manga
  • drama → anime & manga
  • supernatural

Also, as I enjoyed yaoi (boy x boy romance) content at some point, and I didn't see many blogs dedicated to anime lgbtq+ works, I'm thinking of having a section dedicated to that.




Finally, probably the most important question of them all,

SO WHY SHOULD I CARE?    

Well, I mean, you don't have to. I'm no expert in any field; I'm not gonna uncover the hidden meanings in the latest masterpiece or give the opinions of an animator on CGI in anime; however, what I will do is give you the honest, on-point review of another fan, who is just, well, a fan. After all, we all are just fans at the core, and we all are watching just (or mostly) for enjoyment.

I will say, though, that if we somehow have similar tastes, this blog may be of some help when it comes to recommendations. I am also trying my best to offer different types of content, so maybe you will find something interesting to you.
